Great Britain. Anne (1702-1714). Post Union. Trial Halfpenny, nd (1713). Copper. Double Obverse. Plain edge. Draped bust left; ANNA DEI GRATIA. A product of Newton's early experiments in striking. Peck 715. Dr. Nicholson, who has written extensively on these undated Pattern Halfpennies, noted that "Peck was almost certainly correct in regarding the double-obverse varieties as preliminary trial strikings of the 4 relevant Obverse dies." Extremely rare. File mark at lower edge from production. Very Fine.
