Russian Icon. Mother of God Joy of All Who Sorrow. Ca. 1750-1800. Tempera on wood, double kovcheg as is typical for early icons. 9 ½ x 11 ½". The Mother of God standing, Her head left, groups of sufferers seeking intercession on either side, angels around. Slots on the back for shponki, but no support slats. Cyrillic legends neatly etched into back. Cleaned, restored and conserved for presentation.
