Italy. "Etruscan" Gold Unit, 5th Century BC (?). <0.01 gm. Raised "I" with small pellet in shallow circle, rev. The same incuse on raised circle. These paper-thin gold pieces have turned up in Italy over the years. They are reputed to be early Etruscan issues. If so, this piece could be called a gold Litra and would likely predate the lion's head and female (or male) head issues of the 5th Century BC. There has been, though, no proof of this. Very Fine.
