Tuolumne County Water Company (CA) 1859. Columbia. One share. No.3562. While the title sounds innocuous, water was absolutely necessary to gold and silver mining. This is illustrated by the incredibly detailed lithographed vignette that occupies the entire left side of the certificate. VF-EF, spindle cancelled. Issued to D. O. Mills & Company. Financier D. O. Mills invested heavily into the company, which enabled the purchase of the Columbia Ditch. One of the nicest examples of this issue that we have encountered.
