British India. Indian Order of Merit. 2nd Class reward of Valor. 2nd type (1912-1939). Silver and blue enamel. Unnamed as issued. Lacks top buckle. Impressed in two lines "2ND CLASS ORDER OF MERIT" on back above central nut fitting. The oldest gallantry award of the British Empire, the Indian Order of Merit was founded in 1837 by the Honourable East India Company. On riband (velcro mount affixed). Loss of more than half of the central enamel. Fine-About Very Fine.
