A 19th Century glass transfer painting from a print engraved in 1839 by Nicolas Laugier after a painting by Léon Cogniet (itself borrowed from Gilbert Stuart for Washington's head). 21 ½ x 26". A uniformed George Washington stands atop a bunker, facing slightly left, his aide holds his horse behind him, view of a port ion the distance. In a lovely, heavy antique maple frame, 28 x 33 ¼" overall.
