Russia. Imperial. Order of the White Eagle. Sash Badge, circa. 1890, by Keibel, St. Petersburg, sash Badge, 90mm including crown suspension x 63mm, gold (56 zolotniki) and enamel, manufacturer´s mark, assay office mark, and court stamp on eagle´s claws, manufacturer´s mark and court stamp on suspension loop, cleaned overall, blue enamel chipping to right crown tassel, otherwise extremely fine. The Order was revived in November 1705 by August II, King of Poland and was conferred upon Peter the Great to reciprocate the award of the Order of St. Andrew. With the Polish Insurrection of 1831, the Order was incorporated into the Russian honours system by Nicholas I, with the Russian Emperor acting as Grand Master of this exclusive single-class Order until 1917.
