Papal States. Innocenzo XII -- Antonio Pignatelli (1691-1700). Quadrupla, 1694. Anno IIII. Pontifex bust right by Peter Paul Borner of Luzerne, rev. Fontana di Santa Maria in Trastevere, date divided by tiny hatted and tasseled oval Arms in ex.; DAT OMNIBVS AFFLVENTER. Ber.2211, Fr.174, KM 617. Said to be the oldest fountain in Rome, the Fontana di Santa Maria was reconstructed in 1499-1500 and again in 1604. Innocenzo XII commissioned Carlo Fontana to restore the fountain, the work of which is commemorated by this handsome issue. Very Rare. PCGS MS 62.
