Mary of Teck; Queen Mary of Great Britain and Empress of India (1867-1953). Queen-consort of George V; the politician, author and diarist Sir Henry "Chips" Channon said that she was "above politics…magnificent, humorous, worldly, in fact, nearly sublime, though cold and hard. But what a grand Queen"; the ocean-liner RMS Queen Mary and the Royal Navy battlecruiser HMS Queen Mary are named after her. Autograph Letter Signed as Queen, "Mary R". Two pages on Buckingham Palace note paper, May 4, 1935. Responding to a letter and gift sent to her by Alec Drummond, Esq., Queen Mary thanks him for the "charming little tea set" he sent her for the Silver Jubilee. "Your kind attention has pleased me beyond words and I thank you very earnestly. I shall use the set with much pleasure. Your dear Mother was a very old friend of mine. Believe me your great affect: godmother". Mary signs below. Very light staining. Fine. Accompanied by Alec Drummond's letter to Mary, and the Registered envelope for Mary's letter to him. [3]
