Great Britain. Royal Marines Cross Belt Plate. Mid-19th Century. Gilt. High-relief lion on crown, GIBRALTAR on scroll above, motto below. Top prongs and button mushrooms and maker's mark "J. SALTER 73 STRAND" (John Salter, 73 Strand, 1825-1830) on back. Minor scuff on left. Otherwise well-preserved and attractive. Ex Evans Kerrigan Collection.
