Russia. Medal for Zeal. Nicholas II. Silver, 28mm. Officially Impressed: 205489 F.J. LYNAS. A.B. H.M.S. JUPITER. The Majestic-class, pre-dreadnought British Royal Navy ship, H.M.S. Jupiter was commissioned in 1897 and served with the Channel Fleet. In February 1915, H.M.S. Jupiter was dispatched to Russia as an ice-breaker to clear the route to Arkhangelsk. Regularly operating in temperatures as low as -20C, it freed numerous vessels from the crushing sea ice. H.M.S. Jupiter successfully completed its mission in May and a grateful Tsar Nicholas bestowed upon its sailors and crew various honors and awards. Integral loop and suspender.
