Bulgaria. Kingdom. Order of Civil Merit. Badge. 90mm (including crown suspension and loop) x 54mm. White gold, silver-gilt and enamel; the obverse set with approximately 180 graduated brilliant-cut diamonds, including a large diamond to the top of the Crown, together with emeralds and rubies between the rays. The construction and overall detail of this badge suggests that it may have been privately commissioned for a member of the Royal family or nobility. Housed in a Georg Jensen, New York case. Good Very Fine and of the highest quality.
The Bulgarian Royal Order of Civil Merit was founded in 1891 by King Ferdinand I. A six class Order, it was awarded at the personal discretion of the King for services to the nation.
