Vanity Medal (ca. 1982). By John Cook. Bronze. Trial or Study strike(?) 74mm raised central medallion on "countersunk" 82.5mm flan. Pan left, playing pipes over skull, signed JC in square lower right; INGENITA LEVITAS ("Levity is inborn"), rev. Bust of man left holding a mask before him; ET ERUDITA VANITAS ("but Vanity is instilled"). The 73mm Vanity medal was the 105th issue of the Society of Medalists in 1982 and made by MACo, Danbury. Extremely Fine.
