Central Asia. Amir of Wakhsh. Abu'l-`Abbas Muhammad b. Ahmad (fl. AH 618-621/1221-1224 AD). Gold Dinar, mint off flan, (month of Shawwal) AH 61(8). 2.83 gms. Abu-l `Abbas Muhammad bin Ahmad al-Imam al-Nasir al-din. A-E1754. Rare. The identity of this ruler is unknown, the later part of the name in the legend may be a reference to the Caliph al-Nasir Muhammad. If so, this coin would then likely have been a Mongol issue after their invasion of the region. Minor weakness in margins. Very Fine. Ex Spink Zürich Auction, June 1989, lot 435.
