1797 John Adams Indian Peace Medal. Julian IP-1. Bronzed Copper. 51mm. 4.3mm thick. By Moritz Fürst and John Reich. Second reverse. Adams bust right, rev. Hands clasped below crossed tomahawk and pipe. Right hand index finger points above "R" in FRIENDSHIP, flat top "A"s in legend. No Indian Peace Medals were made during Adams' term in office. The medals were created later in the 19th Century by the U.S. mint, the 51mm John Adams medal was the only size offered to the public until 1905. Glossy deep chestnut brown. Uncirculated.
