Auction: 332 - The Numismatic Collector's Series Sale
Lot: 472
1830 Capped Bust $2 ½. PCGS MS60. While there are some hairline scratches in the obverse fields, the overall appearance of this coin probably merits a higher grade designation. The rich golden surfaces retain a good deal of original mint luster, and there are no particularly distracting contact marks on central portions of the main design elements. Because of the extensive melting of the earlier issues of U.S. gold coins (still going on in the early 1830s), Uncirculated examples of this type are eagerly collected, and aren't seen at public auctions very often. Bid accordingly.
