"Pattern coin" Jia Qing tongbao ????, AE cash, weight 5,2 g., Board of Works mint, Peking. Obv. Jia Qing Tong Bao, rev. Boo Chiowan.
This extremely rare pattern was used to serve as a model to do the molds for the "mother coins". The Chinese description indicates that this is indeed a « diao mu?? », meaning litterally a "sculpted mother coin" « [coin] mother (mu) sculpted (diao) », also referred to as « ?? zu qian ».
Extremely rare, especially in such condition.
