Nevada. Nevada Central Railway (Nevada) 1879. $1,000 First Mortgage Six Per Cent Gold Bond. PROOF, complete with attached full coupon page. The central vignette is "The Crossing" by James Smilie. This is the same vignette that appears on the 1861 Confederate $500 note (which was printed in New York just before the War Between the States began). Be advised that any American Bank Note Company Proof railroad bond is a true rarity, as very few examples were found in the archives. Large format bonds like this one are exceptionally rare, and especially in this state of preservation, so bid accordingly. Also included is a Specimen of this bond, used as a model to help prepare bonds of the Nevada Southern Railway, First Division. Corrections are written in ink directly on to the bond. VF+.
