World War II. Great Britain. Personal Flag of Sir H. Bernard Rawlings, Vice-Admiral, Second-in-Command, British Pacific Fleet. Flown from his flagship 'H.M.S. King George V' during combat operations in 1945. Rawling's 16 x 11 ½" cloth flag, red cross of St. George and red sun in upper left quadrant, frayed at upper right, normal wear and weathering, snaphooks and line attached set in frame. The flag was presented to Lt. Commander Robert F. Morris, U.S.N., Comm. Liaison Officer, Officer in Charge of the U.S.N. liaison detachment onboard the 'H.M.S. King George V' during the last seven months of World War II. Frame: 20 ½ x 17 ½". A vivid piece of history. Accompanied by a transcript of the deck log book of the H.M.S. King George V, 23 June-22 Sept. 1945. The ship was present in Tokyo Bay for the Japanese surrender, September 2, 1945. (2)
