Russia. World War I. Russian P.O.W. Memento Box from Hajmáskér Prisoner-of-War Camp, Hungary. Wooden box, compartmented interior, 9 ¾ x 6", 3" deep. Russian legend carved on hinged lid "In Memory of the War - God Bring Peace". In a central cartouche "105" (POW's regiment?), on fancy scroll below "1914 - ?A?M?KEP? - 1916". Keyhole plate (no key). A P.O.W. camp was set up inside the Austro-Hungarian Hajmáskér military base and barracks during World War." Minor contact marks, well-preserved.
