Russia. 1827 Pattern Light Cavalry Trooper's Shashka (sword). Overall length: 41 ¼". Top of blade with Russian legend engraved and date '1834'. Leather-bound wooden grip with bronze lozenge studs, brass triple bar hilt guard. Heavy, curved, 34" blade. Blackened steel scabbard. CW, 18, 14 in circle and G in circle stamped on ricasso. This was the standard Russian weapon in the Crimean War. Rare. Blade has been polished. Very Fine.
