Italy. Kingdom. Medal of Military Valor. World War I. Bronze. 35 mm. Awarded to: Alfredo Angeloni POZZUOLO DEL FRIULI - 30 OTTOBRE 1917 for actions during the Battle of Pozzuolo, Oct. 29-30, 1917. The valiant stand by two Italian brigades at Pozzuolo di Friuli allowed most of the Italian Third Army to escape before the Austro-Hungarian and German forces could cut off their retreat routes after the disastrous Battle of Caporetto. While both brigades were destroyed by the much larger German and Austro-Hungarian divisions, the Italian Third Army was able to cross the Taglimento River and reorganize at the Piave River. Very Scarce. On blue moiré ribbon. Light even wear.
