U.S. Treasury Drafts Related to the Confederate Raiders "Alabama, Florida", and "Shenandoah" April and June 1889. Washington, D.C. Three drafts, Nos.7511, 7354 and 7743. Portrait of Salmon P. Chase, left. "GENEVA AWARD," in the left end panel. Under the Geneva Award, Great Britain agreed to pay $15.5 million to compensate the United States for depredations committed by the Confederate raiders "Alabama, Florida", and "Shenandoah", built in Great Britain. Two of these drafts are signed by U.S. Treasurers - James Hyatt, and J. S. Houston. A similar lot brought $1,100 + 20% in Spink's April 2011 Dallas Sale.
