Ediphone Service Incorporated (New Jersey) 1928. One share. No.3. Orange. State seal of New Jersey. Issued to Thomas A. Edison, and signed by him on the back. While 100 examples were printed, only ten were issued, and this is the only example issued to Edison and signed by him. This example is also signed by his brother Charles, as president. Thomas Edison recognized the potential for using recorded sound to allow for more convenient dictation, and his wax cylinder technology provided a simple and uncomplicated way to achieve that goal.
