Wonderful Aero Club of America Letter Signed by Theodore Roosevelt, Alexander Graham Bell, Augustus Santos-Dumont and Others. From Alan Ramsay Hawley (President of the Club) to an unknown recipient. June 3, 1918, 297 Madison Avenue, New York. 8vo. TLS. "Here is another envelope for your collection. The envelope of one of the letters sent recently by aeroplane to a member of the Aerial League of America brought $1,000 at the Red Cross Auction. The envelope of this letter may be worth as much very soon…" The letter is signed at the bottom by the following: Robert Peary (signed "Peary"); A. S. Burleson; Alexander Graham Bell; Earle L. Ovington; Henry Woodhouse; Glenn Curtiss; Augustus Post; A. Santos-Dumont, and Theodore Roosevelt, who states "Hearty congratulations on the great achievement!" The Aero Club of America was a social club formed in 1905. It issued the first American pilot's licenses.
