Missouri. M.A. Abrahams. Weston. Storecard. (1853-1854). Brass. Miller Mo-41, Wright 2, Baker 506. Washington bust right; M.A. ABRAHAMS, 10 below, rev. THE PEOPLES OUTFITTING STORE / WESTON / MO. Abrahams ran outfitting depots for Western wagon trains at Weston and Independence in the early 1850's, apparently defaulting on a loan and going bankrupt in 1854 (he did recover in 1867 and opened the Eagle Loan Office in St. Louis). When this token was issued, Weston on the western border of Missouri essentially marked the frontier of the United States, with largely unsettled and untracked wilderness beyond. Good lustre. Uncirculated.
