372 Company Sergeant Major David Bone, M.B.E., served with the 5th Battalion Highland Light Infantry during the Great War, initially as Sergeant in the Balkans from 2.7.1915; listed as Signalling Sergeant for the Battalion in the Regimental records; awarded the Territorial Force Efficiency Medal, 1917.
The Highland Light Infantry Chronicle of October 1939 states 'The most important announcement is left to the end. C.S.M. David Bone, now unhappily time expired, was invested by His Majesty with the M.B.E. (Mil. Div.). To him we extend our heartiest congratulations and best wishes for a long and prosperous retirement.'
The Medal Index Card states the issue of a duplicate 1914-15 Star.
