Serbia. Vuk Brankovic, Vojvoda of Kosovo (ca. 1371-1396). Pair of AR Dinar. 0.85 and 0.78 gms. Christ Pantokrator enthroned facing, varieties - one with IC-XC across, the other with trilobe either side, rev. Vuk standing facing holding staff surmounted by banner, Slavic legend around. Vuk Brankovic controlled a number of important cities - Pristina, Trepca, Vucitrn, Zvecan, Pec, Prizren, Skoplije and Sjenica. He defended the region successfully against Bayazit Yildirim and the Ottoman armies until 1392. He was later captured and died in Turkish captivity in 1397. D&D 30.1.4 and var.
