Tauric Chersonesos. Pantikapaion. AR Hemidrachm, ca. 375-325 BC. 2.59 gms. Bearded head of Pan ¾ right, rev. ПANTI in ex., Lion crouching right. Anokhin 100, SNG BM Black Sea 862, SNG Stancomb 537. Well-struck and of fine style, perhaps the best known of this type. The portrait of Pan is exceptional (this coin was featured on the poster “Coins of Ancient Greece” for 2005 Dirty Old Coins). Granular surfaces. Nearly Extremely Fine.
