Lokris. Lokris Opuntia. AR Stater, ca. 369-338 BC. 12.06 gms. Wreathed head of Persephone of Euainetos type right, wearing earring with five pendants and a necklace, rev. OПONTIΩN, Ajax advancing right, wearing crested helmet and brandishing sword and shield – decorated with a griffin and small palmette on the inside, spear lying diagonally at his feet. Gulbenkian 495-496 (same obverse die), SNG Lockett 1693 (same obverse die), Jameson 1147. Lovely old tone. Choice Very Fine.
