Kings of Macedon. Alexander III, the “Great” (336-323 BC). AR Tetradrachm, struck under Menes or Philotas, ca. 327-323 BC. Tarsos. 17.20 gms. Head of Herakles head right clad in lion’s skin, rev. AΛEΞANΔPoY, Zeus enthroned left, holding eagle and scepter, plow before, bullseye-like Θ below throne strut, pellet before and behind Zeus’ head and before eagle. Price 3032 (same obverse die), Newell Tarsos 38. Attractive russet highlights. Extremely Fine and a pleasing example.
