North American Land Company (Pennsylvania) 1795. Philadelphia. One share. Issued, not cancelled. No.1419. Indented left end. Signed by Robert Morris as President. Morris was one of America's Founding Fathers. He served as the Superintendent of Finance under George Washington during the Revolutionary War. Unfortunately for Morris, he invested his personal funds in land companies such as this one, and counted on an influx of rich Europeans to buy the land and pay exorbitant prices. When the rich Europeans failed to invest in American land schemes Morris went bankrupt and ended up in debtors' prison. VF+ details. The Morris signature is repaired. Perfect for framing. Ex.
