Troy, Salem and Rutland Rail Road Company (New York and Vermont) 1865. $1000. First Mortgage Bond. Issued, cancelled. No.440. All purple. Eagle and shield. The line was organized to run 63 miles from Eagle Bridge to Rutland. Signed twice by Jay Gould as President, and Trustee. VF. There are moderately unobtrusive punch cancels, "CANCELLED BY EXCHANGE" stamps, and glue and paper remnants in the top margin, but this example would certainly frame up nicely.
