Zion's Co-Operative Mercantile Institution (Utah Territory) 1907. Salt Lake City. 2 shares. Issued, cancelled. No.1845. Red brown border and underprint. Oval shaped portrait of Brigham Young. Signed as President by Joseph F. Smith. ABNCO Litho. VF+. Minor spindle split at the center, barely visible. Joseph F. Smith (1838-1918) was the son of Hyrum Smith and the nephew of Joseph Smith. Smith served seven terms in the Utah territorial House of Representatives. He was President of the Salt Lake Temple, LDS Church President, and the last President to have personally known Joseph Smith, the founder of the Latter Day Saint Movement. The Zion's Co-Operative Mercantile Institution, founded by Brigham Young in 1868, was the first department store in the United States. Included is a photographic print of Smith, suitable for framing.
