This is the earliest type of American share certificate with an engraved illustration. Issued to Elliston and John Perot. Signed by William Bingham and Tench Francis. Printed on vellum. Embossed seal with an image of the turnstile. William Bingham began his business career as an apprentice for Thomas Wharton, a prominent Philadelphia merchant. He later made a fortune during the American Revolution procuring munitions and produce for the army and investing in privateering ventures. Bingham was one of the leading Philadelphia socialites, and one of the founders and directors of the Bank of North America. EF.Professionally and attractively framed using archival materials.
