1859 Half Dollar, Judd-238, NGC PF 45 BN. The Longacre "French Head." Liberty faces right, laurel and vine in her hair. A ribbon on Liberty's shoulder is inscribed LIBERTY, with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around, and the date below. The HALF DOLLAR reverse design is reminiscent of the issued 1860 Seated dime. Struck in copper, with a reeded edge. Our example, like others we have seen, shows clear evidence of circulation.
