Portrait of an Officer of the 45th (1st Nottinghamshire) Regiment of Foot, ca. 1840. 19th Century. Oil on canvas. Unsigned. Interior: 24 1/3 x 29 1/3". Young officer in full dress uniform sporting fashionable curls faces ¾ right. A work of some naiveté. A few minor loss spots in field, varnished over craquelure. In old gold-brushed frame with regimental placard affixed below, 28 ¾ - 33 ½. Ex Hammatt Collection.
