Field Marshal Frederick Sleigh Roberts, 1st Earl Roberts ("Lord Roberts of Kandahar)". One of the most successful British commanders of the 19th Century. Letter Signed. Typed correspondence on 4 ½ x 5" notecard, Englemere, Ascot, Berks, 13 November 1912. Roberts writes "Dear Sampson" (in ink in his hand) that "We must make a determined effort now to get the people to understand the critical position the country is in…" (typed). Signing below in black ink "Yours sincerely Roberts". Very Good. Attractively matted and framed with a bookplate depiction of Lord Roberts; 14 ¾ x 12".
