Colorado Fuel and Iron Company (CO), 100 shares at $100 each, 1902, green borders and underprint, #10466, miners. In 1913, when over 100 men died in Colorado mining accidents, this company became the focus of intense pro-union activities, eventually resulting in a strike. As violence on both sides escalated, union organizers asked member to arm themselves by any legal means, and the company responded by hiring private armed guards. The National Guard was brought in by the Governor, and further incidents resulted in a "large-scale guerilla war" which ended 11 months later. Extremely Fine, punch and stamp cancelled
