Postal Telegraph Company (NY), $1000 First Mortgage Six Per Cent Gold Bond, #3094, eagle, uncancelled, light rubber stamp endorsements near the bottom, 14 coupons bound. This company was founded in the 1880s by John William Mackay, who made a fortune in silver mining in the Comstock Lode. Mackay's goal was to link a domestic wire network to the Atlantic Cable. Postal was a competitor of Western Union, and controlled as much as 20% of the telegraph business at one point in time. Extremely Fine, and very nice for this rarely seen issue.
