Columbian Celebration Company (IL), First Mortgage $1000 Bond, 1892, #365, green borders and $1000 underprint, Columbus, Signed as president by Benjamin Butterworth, who was formerly Secretary of the World's Fair. The purpose of the company was to stage an elaborate play depicting the story of Columbus and his discovery of the New World. A collosal "Spectatorium" was to be built, two blocks away from the World's Fair, but cost overruns prevented completion, and the company failed. extremely fine
