Poughkeepsie Whaling Company (New York) 1832. 40 shares. No.55. Partly printed form. Fully issued, not cancelled. Penned endorsement and mounting stains on the verso. A small number of whaling companies sprang up in the Hudson Valley, and they prospered into the 1840's. Competition from other major whaling cities like New Bedford put an end to the idea that the Hudson Valley could become the center of East Coast whaling.
