Brig Ano (Massachusetts) December 6, 1814. Boston. 7 shares. No.13. Issued to Henry Knox, Surgeon. Printed form, indent at left. VF+. Included is a letter written by Henry Knox, dated May 5, 1815, to Jones & Company stating that he transferred the shares to Jones & Company in order to avoid having them attached by a creditor, and that he was in desperate need of money. Perhaps the earliest printed certificate for shares in an American ship that we have seen, and a wonderful opportunity to add a key piece to any important collection of maritime scripophily.
