Gray, Thomas (1716-1771). English poet widely known for his "Elegy Written in a Country Courtyard." A small fragment of a manuscript by Gray, mounted on a sheet of paper. In the top margin is written "A piece of the Manuscript of Gray, Author of "The Elegy." Below "To M. P. K from J. T. F. January 1865."
