Civil War. New York. A.S. Clackner. Rochester. 1865. On a "The Flag of Our Union 1863" token a large central hole has been made and the reverse planed and incuse punched: A.S. CLACKNER ROCHESTER, N.Y. PATENT SEPT.19, 1865. Clackner, a Rochester jeweler, patented a circular metallic plate on September 19, 1865 to contract the barrels of a watch's main springs. This piece may have served as a makeshift prototype for the central disk of his invention. Interesting. Extremely Fine.
