The Order of St. John of Jerusalem Certificate of Honour to Miss Sybil Saunders-Knox-Gore, St. John Ambulance Brigade, For Gallant Conduct in Tending to the Wounded During the 1916 Easter Rising
Order of St. John of Jerusalem, illuminated Certificate of Honour, named to Sybil Saunders Knox Gore, 'in recognition of gallant conduct in tending the wounded at great personal risk during the Sinn Fein Riots in Ireland in April and May 1916', and dated London, 30.6.1916, nearly extremely fine

Miss Sybil Catherine Octavia Saunders-Knox-Gore was born in Dublin in 1875, the daughter of Major-General William Boyd Saunders-Knox-Gore, sometime High Sheriff and Deputy Lieutenant of Co. Mayo, and served as a Member of the St. John Ambulance Brigade in Dublin during the 1916 Easter Rising. Awarded the Order of St. John Certificate of Honour for great gallantry displayed during the Easter Rising from the 25th April to the 5th May, 1916, and specifically for tending the wounded at great personal risk, possibly during the fighting at Mount Street, she was presented with her certificate in Dublin by Sir Henry Blake, G.C.M.G., on the 16th January 1917. She died at Bath in February 1968.
