Soc. en Commadite "Carmel Oriental" a Varsovie, certificate for 100 roubles, 190[3], #047, ornate border with map of Palestine at top, dwarves with bunch of grapes at bottom (this log is still used today by the company), mauve, small adhesive stamp depicts star of David, text in Russian and French on reverse, filing holes at left, small splits at fold, about very fine.

Wine and Brandy was produced in the 19th century by settlers in Palestine with the help of Baron Edmund Rothschild, a staunch zionist and owner of Chateau Lafite. The Carmel Wine Company was formed in 1895 to export wines, first to Poland and then to other European countries. This was a branch of the company formed in Warsaw but the company's markets were lots following WWI and the Russian Revolution.
