Palestine Land Settlement: Societe Dorche-Zion, subscription of 100 francs paid to H. Cahn. bankers in Paris, 1890, ornate border, black, text in Hebrew and French with rules of the society on the reverse, together with Petah Tikva, 6% Loan of 100 francs, 1912, ornate border, black, Ottoman revenue stamp, with filing holes, fine and very fine.
Subscribers to Dorche-Zion, who were mostly from Rostov and other Russian towns trying to avoid the systematic and Government backed anti-semitism, would eventually acquire a piece of land in Palestine. Petah Tikvah was founded in the 1880's by orthodox jews and became a permanent settlement with the help of the Rothschilds in 1883. Now a city with a population of some 250,000.
