Washingtonia; Edwin Markham. Markham-signed copy of his poem "Washington the Nation Builder" written for the Bicentennial of Washington's Birth, 1932. Edwin Markham (1852-1940) was a noted poet and bibliophile of his time, and served as the Poet Laureate of Oregon from 1923 to 1931. He signs below the last verse "Your friend, Edwin Markham" and "Staten Island, N.Y." beneath the Bicentennial note. Very Fine. Matted side by side with an ornate Washington depiction between two obelisks in color and attractively framed.
