Judaica; Jewish leaders lot: Abraham Cahan (1860-1951). British-American socialist news editor, novelist, politician, a founding father, and the patriarch of the Jewish Daily Forward until 1946. Letter signed, typed on the Jewish Daily's letterhead, Dec. 1, 1931, thanking Edward Filene for the autographed copy of his book; Yitzhak Shamir, 7th prime minister of Israel. His autograph on a large white card; Dr. Joshua Loth Liebman (1907-1948), American rabbi and best-selling author. Letter signed, typed on his letterhead, June 30, 1947. Liebman thanks Mrs. Gerstley for her letter and encloses his autograph on a Grand Canyon 2 Cent commemorative postage stamp - included in lot; Sholem-Asch (1880-1957), Polish-born American novelist, dramatist and essayist in the Yiddish language. His autograph on a small card; Abba Hillel Silver (1893-1963), rabbi and Zionist leader. His autograph, dated Feb. 13 - 1940, on a 3 Cent Ralph Waldo Emerson stamp; Jonah B. Wise (1881-1959), rabbi of NY's Central Synagogue, leader of the Reform Judaism movement and founder of the United Jewish Appeal. His auotograph, dated July 14, 1942, on a 3 Cent "Win the War" stamp; Isidor Loeb, professor of law, University of Missouri. Autograph Letter signed, April 27, 1941. Loeb thanks an autograph seeker and sends his autograph on a Horace Mann 1 Cent commemorative stamp - included in lot; Leslie Hore-Belisha (1893-1957), British Liberal, MP and cabinet minister, alleged victim of anti-Semitism. His autograph on a House of Commons embossed notepaper, with 1940 secretarial letter that was sent with autograph. Light mount stains on one letter, some mount marks on blank backs of some cards, on average Fine. [11]
